JOB TITLE: SALES CONSULTANT/DESIGNER
The Design Consultant plays a key role in guiding clients through the selection and design process
for countertops, backsplash, and related surfaces. This position combines aesthetic design
knowledge with practical product understanding to help customers choose materials that suit their
space, lifestyle, and budget. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, personable, and thrives in a
fast-paced environment where both creativity and precision are essential. From initial consultation
to final approval, the Design Consultant ensures a seamless, professional, and enjoyable
experience for every client.
PAY RATE - $17-$21/hr
SALES TASKS:
CLIENT CONSULTATION & DESIGN SUPPORT:
- Welcome clients in the showroom and walk them through available Natural stone, and quartz
options.
-Guide clients in choosing materials, edge profiles, sink styles, and backsplashes based on
functionality, style, and budget.
PROJECT CORDINATION:
- Work closely with Project Managers to ensure design intent is carried through to completion.
- Assist with preparing quotes, generating project files, and documenting specifications in the
company’s CRM system.
-Ensure timely communication with clients regarding project timelines, material availability, and
design approvals.
SALES & RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT:
- Build rapport with homeowners, builders, contractors, and designers to grow long-term business
relationships.
- Proactively follow up with clients to ensure satisfaction and generate referrals.
- Develop and maintain a system of follow-up to ensure no prospective customer "falls through the
cracks."- Meet or exceed monthly sales targets through a solution-based, customer-first approach.
- Field incoming phone calls (customer and/or business-related).
GENERAL:
- Explain our pricing and services to new and existing customers.
- Communicate material orders to Inventory Manager.
- Conduct outgoing customer service calls.
- Assist in a variety of other office duties as needed.
- Keep up to date with email and voicemail.
- Keep up to date with tasks on customer management and inventory management software
systems.
ADDITIONAL TASKS INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Assist with keeping a clean and tidy working environment.
- Errands as needed.
- Communicate with other business entities.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers,
common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and
interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where
only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written,
oral, diagram, or schedule form.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- The position will require the following physical activities regularly: Standing, sitting, walking,
talking, hearing, and handling.
- The maximum amount of weight required to be lifted will be less than 100 pounds.
- There are no special vision requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1-2+ years of experience in interior design, kitchen & bath design, or a related customer-facing role
(countertop or remodeling industry preferred but not required)
- Strong understanding of spatial layout.
- Ability to read and interpret cabinet layouts and basic construction drawings.
- Excellent communication, organization, and presentation skills.- Proficiency with Microsoft office and CRM systems is a plus.
- Comfortable working in a sales environment with performance goals.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Office: indoors in a temperature-controlled environment; Warehouse: indoors in a non-
temperature-controlled environment; Remnant Yard: outdoors
- May include Saturdays or extended hours during peak times.
- Requires occasional site visits to client homes or construction sites.

ANNUAL PAID VACATION TIME:
- 40 hours of paid time off is available after your first 6 months of employment. Any paid time off
paid in advance will be withheld from final pay*
- Each additional year you will accrue an additional 8 hours (Up to 80 hours)
After 6 Months – 40 hours*
After Year 1 Anniversary – 8 hours*
*Note: Accrued vacation time hours do not carry over after your anniversary date.
Open Hours: M-F from 9:00 - 5:00
Work hours: M-F 8:30 – 5:30 with one hour lunch
Saturdays: 9:00-1:00 At least 2 Saturdays per month. Time may be taken during the week to offset
overtime.
