Job Description

A K-12 school is seeking two full-time Orientation and Mobility Specialists (OMS) for a contract position in Riverside, CA, for the upcoming school year. This role focuses on providing essential mobility training and orientation skills to visually impaired students, enabling them to navigate their environment confidently and safely.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess and develop individualized mobility plans for students with visual impairments.
• Instruct students in the use of cane skills, public transportation, and spatial awareness.
• Collaborate with teachers, families, and support staff to enhance student independence.
• Monitor student progress and adjust strategies as needed.
• Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with educational standards.

Desired Qualifications:

• Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) or equivalent credentials.
• Experience working with K-12 students, particularly those with visual impairments.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to create supportive and adaptive learning environments.
• Familiarity with assistive technology related to mobility training.

Position Type:

This opportunity allows OMS professionals to make a meaningful impact on the independence and safety of visually impaired students within an educational setting.
