Seneca Federal Health is looking to hire a Museum Specialist – Digital Archives to support our government client. This position provides critical support to the Defense Health Agency (DHA) at the National Museum of Health and Medicine (NMHM). DHA is a combat support agency delivering integrated, affordable, and high-quality health services to beneficiaries of the Department of Defense's Military Health System. NMHM's mission is to explore and preserve the impact of military medicine.

This position supports maintenance of the museum's collection information database, KEmu and for NMHM's digital archives, and preparing of materials related to digital projects.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Maintain collections information database KEmu; perform regular maintenance routines.
• Implements bulk changes to data.
• Assist users with complex queries as needed.
• As directed monitor system usage, set up alerts, run reporting metrics, and audit data through reports; perform data-hygiene checks; expose entries which do not meet standards, and perform cleanup as needed.
• Write, edit, design, and troubleshoot Crystal Reports.
• As directed by the Registrar and Linux server administrator, manage configuration and security settings, user accounts, and query groups for KEmu.
• Assists with testing of software upgrades with Linux server administrator; collaborates on software migrations and integrations; responsible for performance tuning, and data movement.
• Maintain and update in-house system documentation and KEmu users' manual.
• Support accurate data mapping, validation, integrations, and clean-up activities across collections branches using the collections management system KEmu and other database programs.
• Collaborate with Collection Managers and Linux server administrator on opportunities to enhance collection information and KEmu user experience.
• Escalate support requests to Registrar as needed, report bugs, and submit feature requests.
• Collaborate with leadership and Collection Managers on standardization of KEmu field usage, preferred terminology, and authority controls.
• Develops and maintains a digital archive for a wide variety of collection materials across the division.
• Applies numerous established digital practices in processing materials, consisting of archival, historical, visual, and anatomical formats.
• Prepares a variety of material for digital and other reformatting, completing duplication service, and reviewing duplicated images for adherence to established quality standards.
• Compiles and maintains records of processing activities and completes appropriate forms for statistical reports.
• Performs a sequence of detailed routines in searching online databases to identify what physical and digital items are in the division's care and helps track where they are.
• Assists with inventories, generating container lists, or other kinds of finding aids/data queries using KEmu and other databases.
• Track contents of digital storage, maintain inventories, maintain cross references between digital assets in storage and records in the database, liaise with IT department for backup of digital assets
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Master's degree in Library Science or Archival Management, with an emphasis in digital media.
• 2 years of successful and relevant digital asset management experience.
• Demonstrated responsibility for historically, scientifically, and monetarily valuable collections. Expert oral and written communications skills.
• Skill in collections or archives management databases.
• Ability to generate creditable finding aids. Requires ability to work in confined collections storage areas, ability to climb ladders and use basic materials handling equipment such as dollies, pallet jacks, flatbed carts, hand drills, etc.
• Ability to use scanners, cameras, and other digitization equipment.

Desired Qualifications:

• History of medicine and museum studies strengths preferred.
• Skill in collections or archives management databases (Ke Emu) preferred.
• Familiar with FADGI standards.
• Strong relational database skill.
• Ability to handle complex queries.
