The Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at Yale School of Medicine is a highly regarded academic center dedicated to patient care, education, and research. It is a diverse and integrated community of nearly 300 clinician-investigators, physician-scientists, and staff who work to advance cardiovascular health.

The department provides a full spectrum of cardiovascular services through the Yale New Haven Health Heart and Vascular Center, which is the largest provider of heart and vascular services in Connecticut. The team treats a wide range of heart conditions, from common to rare disorders, and offers specialized programs in areas such as:

• Interventional Cardiology: Including a large structural heart disease program and advanced procedures for coronary artery and peripheral vascular diseases.
• Heart Failure and Transplantation: Offering advanced heart failure treatment, ventricular assist device (VAD) management, and cardiac transplantation.
• Cardiac Electrophysiology: Providing state-of-the-art ablation and other treatments for heart rhythm problems.
• Advanced Cardiac Imaging: An internationally recognized program utilizing nuclear, echocardiography, MRI, and CT imaging.
• Specialty Programs: Including cardio-oncology, adult congenital heart disease, cardiovascular genetics, and a women's heart and vascular program.

Responsibilities:

• Provide Consultative Cardiology Services: You would be responsible for diagnosing, managing, and treating patients with a wide range of cardiovascular conditions. This includes both outpatient care in a clinic setting and inpatient care at Yale New Haven Hospital and other Yale New Haven Health System facilities.
• Manage Diverse Patient Cases: You'll handle a broad spectrum of cardiovascular issues, from common disorders to more complex or rare conditions.
• Collaborate in a Multidisciplinary Setting: You'll work with other specialists to provide comprehensive and collaborative patient care.

• Teaching and Mentoring: A significant part of your role is to educate the next generation of physicians. You would teach and mentor medical students, residents, and cardiology fellows, helping them develop their clinical and professional skills.
• Curriculum and Program Development: You may have opportunities to participate in developing and leading educational initiatives, such as conferences and lectures.

• Academic Contribution: As a faculty member, you are expected to contribute to the academic mission of the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine. This can take various forms.
• Research Participation: You may be involved in clinical or translational research, quality improvement projects, or other academic initiatives. While the extent of research may vary, there is a strong emphasis on contributing to the Section's research programs.
• Scholarly Work: You might be involved in publishing research findings, presenting at national meetings, and other scholarly activities.
• Program Development: You may also be involved in developing new clinical programs or services.

The role is designed for a well-trained and dedicated clinician who is committed to teaching and is interested in contributing to the robust research and academic environment at Yale.

Qualifications:

Medical Degree: You must hold a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.

Fellowship Training: Completion of a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine is a mandatory requirement. This fellowship provides the specialized training needed to practice cardiology.

Board Certification: You must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiovascular Disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). Board certification demonstrates a high level of expertise in your field.

Medical Licensure: You must be eligible for a Connecticut medical license to practice at Yale New Haven Hospital and other affiliated facilities.
